Frequently asked questions
What does Badminton Sensei do?
You prop an iPhone at the court or import a video of a match. Badminton Sensei tracks the shuttle, names each shot (smash, clear, drop, net shot, drive, lift, serve), estimates smash speed, calls landings in or out, keeps the singles or doubles score, and turns it all into stats and highlight reels.
Is Badminton Sensei free?
Yes. Every feature and every match is included, with no ads, no subscription and no in-app purchases.
Do my videos get uploaded anywhere?
No. All analysis runs on your iPhone with Apple's Core ML and Vision frameworks. There is no account and no server, and the app collects no data. It works in a gym with no signal.
Which iPhones does it work on?
iPhones running iOS 26 or later. Filming at 120 fps, which recent iPhones support, gives verified smash speeds.
Is there an Android version?
Not at the moment. Badminton Sensei is built for iPhone.
How accurate are the speeds and line calls?
They are estimates from a single camera, and the app tells you when it is unsure: uncertain speeds are marked and landings that are too close to call are labelled “Too close”. It is a training and fun tool, not a replacement for an umpire in official matches.
Where should I put my phone?
Behind one baseline, a few feet off the ground, with the whole court in view. Our filming guide shows the best spots and heights.
